Family Run Contacting Business G Robinsons Ltd (Rugeley, Staffordshire)
Massey Ferguson 8S.225 & 7719S
Family run contracting business G Robinson LTD based near Rugeley, Staffordshire have grown an impressive business since they began in 2013. Father and Son team Graham and Shaun took the decision to venture into agricultural contracting nearly 8 years ago and have consistently worked to secure key contracts around the country and push the business forward.
Now the family manage a team of 8 tractor drivers completing various agricultural activities year-round.
“No job is too big or place too far when it comes to us. We will always provide a great service wherever the work comes from. We have Anaerobic Digestion Plants, central and further afield with various contracts that our team of drivers travel to. We know we offer a good service and competitive prices which has helped us retain important business each year” explains Graham.
With work coming in throughout the year, the team relies on good machines to support the workload. The business recently took delivery of two new Massey Ferguson tractors from KO Machines LTD; a 7719S and 8S.225 Dyna 7.
“Like anyone, we have to have reliable machinery and we need good service from our local dealer. Our tractors average about 2000 hours per year and in peak times we need to feel supported. We have had a few machines from KO and we have always been impressed with their service so we decided to take the plunge and go for two new tractors this year.”
After successful demonstrations Graham and Shaun were left particularly impressed with the new Massey Ferguson 8S model, commenting specifically on the improvements made to the cab. Both tractors were delivered to the team in March 2021 with the 8S already clocking up over 600 hours.
“The process with KO Machines has been fantastic, both sales and service. The team really know what they are doing and they are a great bunch, nothing is too much trouble. When it comes to purchasing a new machine, reliability is key but also a competitively priced machine. When comparing to other brands we found the Massey Ferguson machines to be very sensible. That, paired with the affordable service charge from KO, we felt confident we had a good deal.” Explains Graham and Shaun.
Thank you to the team at G Robinson LTD for your business & we look forward to working with you in the years to come!
Family Run Contracting & Farming Business Brewster Farms (Staffordshire)
Massey Ferguson Cerea 7274 & Delta 9380 Combine Harvesters
Brewster Farms is a family-run farming and contracting business based in Staffordshire. Operating for over 40 years and loyal KO Machines customers, we wanted to chat more about their love for Massey Ferguson and why they choose KO in particular.
The business operates in the area around the farm and up to Stafford, and in total the machines are tending to over 3000 acres of ground with a variation of crops including OSR, barley, wheat, oats and beans.
“Pretty much all our machines are Massey Ferguson and supplied through KO Machines. We started dealing with them when they originally set up in 2008. With the depot only being five miles away we always feel well looked after by the team” explains Matt Brewster.
The business currently runs two Massey Ferguson combines; a Cerea 7274 and the most recently purchased Delta 9380. “We didn’t really shop around when it came to changing, we knew we liked the Massey product and knew we would be well looked-after by KO Machines.”
The newest member of the fleet is comfortably capable of harvesting in excess of 90 acres per day and receives great results. “When it comes to output we are very happy, it performs well and it isn’t thirsty, not with fuel or AdBlue. We did have the IDEAL 7T here last season and it flew past but granted it is a bigger machine. We also really like the SuperFlow header in comparison to the older PowerFlow model.”
Previously running competitive brands of machines, Matt explained how the sample produced by the combine was of a lot higher quality than previous competitive models, “Whilst the machine allows you to slow down rotor speed to maintain good straw quality, we have not found this compromises the grain sample. This latest model is by far the best grain and straw samples we have seen.”
When it comes to time in the seat it is driver James that has logged the most hours, and here he explains the ease of functionality from inside the cab, “Everything is so easy to use and find. The touchscreen display and general user experience is great, it makes the machine a pleasure to drive.”
What is a good combine without good back-up? With any machine the customer wants to feel looked after and we were pleased to find that this was the case with Brewster Farms.
“We really have no complaints, the whole process with KO Machines from purchasing to back-up and parts is brilliant. If they don’t have the parts we need on the shelf, then they sort us out from the warehouse. The longest we were broken down in harvest was a couple of hours and that was in the evening time. The engineers understand the importance of getting us up and running quickly and they aren’t shy of being here first thing in the morning either, which I have found to be a problem with other companies.”
The families love of the Massey Ferguson brand doesn’t end with their two combines. The farm also runs six tractors, all supplied by KO Machines; four 7700 S series and two 7600 series.
“The fact that most of our equipment in the business is supplied through KO machines I think speaks for itself in terms of how happy we are with the overall service. Both KO and Massey Ferguson are always a pleasure to deal with and cannot do enough for you. You really feel that they are passionate about putting the customer first.”
Thank you ever so much for the wonderful feedback - here's to many more years working together!
